School Fencing Programs!
Davis Fencing Academy is providing P.E. fencing classes for schools in the Davis Joint Unified School District! These classes are designed to give all students in fourth to ninth 6+ hours of fencing instruction and practice at NO COST to the schools participating in the program. This safe, exhilarating sport has been a part of every Modern Olympic Games, offers NCAA opportunities and promotes lifelong fitness.
For this first year, all classes will be learning the basic fencing actions to the level they can safely and successfully participate in practice bouts. In future years, we will move towards elementary school programs teaching the mechanics and basic rules of fencing. Junior high will build on this foundation teaching short term tactics and long term strategy based on the scientific method.
The program has been well received by students, teachers and administrators. One parent told us their child demanded they get to school on time so they were not late to fencing! We have had emails from faculty asking how we can expand the fencing offerings at the schools we are already teaching at. (We are working on it-look for more information in the new year!!)
